Day 1: Arrival in San José

Arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José. Meet and greet by your local tour guide. Transfer to your hotel for check-in. Spend the afternoon at leisure, exploring the city’s vibrant culture or relaxing at your hotel. Enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in San José.

Day 2: San José to Arenal/La Fortuna

After breakfast, drive to La Fortuna, home to the Arenal Volcano. En route, stop at the Doka Estate Coffee Tour to learn about Costa Rican coffee production. Continue to La Fortuna and check in at your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Arenal Volcano National Park to hike through the trails and enjoy views of the volcano and surrounding lava fields. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Arenal/La Fortuna Activities

After breakfast, choose between several adventure activities:

  • Option 1: Arenal Hanging Bridges and La Fortuna Waterfall - Explore the Arenal Hanging Bridges and hike through the rainforest canopy. Visit La Fortuna Waterfall for a refreshing swim in the pool below.
  • Option 2: Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs - Visit the Arenal Volcano area for a guided tour. In the afternoon, relax in the hot springs at one of the local resorts, such as Tabacón or Baldi Hot Springs. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Arenal to Monteverde

After breakfast, drive to Monteverde, known for its cloud forests and biodiversity. Check in at your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Explore the trails with a guide, spotting unique wildlife such as quetzals, howler monkeys, and diverse bird species. Enjoy a visit to the Butterfly Garden or the Serpentarium. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Monteverde to San José

After breakfast, take a morning tour of the Selvatura Park, where you can walk the famous suspension bridges or experience the zip-lining canopy tour. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the cloud forest from the hanging bridges. In the afternoon, return to San José. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for some last-minute shopping or sightseeing in the city. Transfer to Juan Santamaría International Airport for your departure flight.
